Se fue 2017 y con él, las frustraciones que nos dejó Santos. Un «mejor país» empobrecido, con 260 mil nuevos desempleados, con 6.000 miembros entre las «disidencias» terroristas y las bacrim sin control; con una calificación triple B- en la evaluación de riesgo de inversión y con más de 200 mil hectáreas de coca. Es decir, todo el combustible para nuevas violencias.
Sumémosle la impunidad y premios a las farc, al crimen, al secuestro y a la violación de niñas que hoy, claman justicia al ver a sus victimarios desafiantes y próximos a ocupar las curules que les pondrán el título de «honorables».
Sin embargo, vale la pena recordar qué país recibió el presidente Álvaro Uribe en el 2002: Una Colombia con 30 mil muertos al año, el mayor índice de mortalidad de nuestra historia, producto del desgreño institucional que propició las confrontaciones armadas entre guerrilla y paramilitares, las tomas de pueblos, las masacres indiscriminadas, sumado a la violencia y pauperización social.
Por eso Centro Democrático y los aliados que votaron NO al plebiscito, más los arrepentidos del SI, tenemos la oportunidad histórica de «ponerle un freno de mano», como lo dijo Uribe en un discurso ante comerciantes de Bogotá, para redireccionar el rumbo de esta patria.
Quienes tuvimos el privilegio de conformar la primera bancada al Congreso de Colombia, bajo su tutela, tenemos el reto de recoger lo construido y enfrentar la destrucción institucional. Sumados a los nuevos candidatos que entran hoy a participar en la contienda electoral.
El año 2018 es el «ahora o nunca». Es el año de la esperanza y de los retos definitivos; es la apertura de nuevos caminos que conduzcan a Colombia hacia una verdadera reconstrucción. Está en nuestras manos despejar el panorama para encaminarnos a disfrutar del inicio de un cambio definitivo que nos proveerá seguridad y progreso.
El pasado reciente nos deja un balance que nos impulsa a ser mejores, a superarnos a nosotros mismos y a cumplir por encima de lo planeado para conducir a Colombia a una verdadera reconstrucción.
Desde mis más profundas convicciones estaré nuevamente dispuesta a defender la libertad, la justicia y el orden como pilares fundamentales de una sociedad que quiere progresar.
Que Dios nos bendiga a todos, por el bien de Colombia.
